A great start to the new school football season. Despite this being a friendly match, both teams started brightly and competitively before Newlaithes scored from a corner kick, 0-1. Cookridge then started to win the midfield battle and drew level with a superb solo goal by Faisal which included him beating two defenders, 1-1. Nathan then capitalised on a defensive mistake to make it 2-1 at half-time.

The second half continued in much the same way, Cookridge had the majority of possession but Newlaithes always had a threat on the counter attack. Liam scored a brilliant volley from a Nathan corner, 3-1, before Newlaithes scored again from a corner kick of their own, 3-2. Ben organised the defence well and chances for the opposition dried up. Charlie scored two goals following up shots which had rebounded out, 5-2. To finish the game and the scoring, captain Liam collected the ball and superbly chipped the Newlaiths goalkeeper to make the final score 6-2. A great result to start the new season!
