Year 5/6 Football Match Report vs Newlaithes

Cookridge vs Newlaithes

We looked to get the season of to a good start by putting in a good performance against a good team. The first half saw plenty of chances for both teams but Newlaithes showed that killer instinct by scoring three times to make it 0-3 at half-time.

The second half saw much of the same and after another Newlaithes goal (0-4), we finally found the back of the net. After good pressure from Nathan, he slotted home to make it 1-4. Another quick goal from Jack A reduced the deficit to 2-4. Another Newlaithes goal took it to 2-5 before Elliott scored a well placed shot to make it 3-5. A good team performance despite the result and plenty to look forward to in the league and cups to come!

My man of the match was Liam. He fought and battled for every tackle and won his personal battles. He was equally effective in midfield and in defence and was unlucky not to score with a great chip that hit the bar.

Man of the match- Liam Jones.
